New Area Codes To Be
Placed in Service During 2014

03/03/2014 - Kentucky - Area code 364 in Kentucky is scheduled to be placed into service as overlay of area code 270. Effective February 1, 2014 ten digit dialing in the 270 and 364 area codes will be mandatory.

Ten digit dialing (area code + seven digit number) will be necessary in the 270/364 overlay because two different homes in the same geographic area can have the same seven digit phone number but each would have a different area code.

06/03/2014 - Nevada - Area code 725 in Nevada is scheduled to be placed into service as overlay of area code 702. Effective May 03, 2014 ten digit dialing in the 702 and 725 area codes will be mandatory.

07/01/2014 - Texas - Area code 346 in Texas is scheduled to be placed into service as an overlay of area codes 281, 713 and 832. Mandatory ten-digit dialing is already required in area codes 281, 713 and 832 so no changes in local dialing plans is necessary.

08/30/2014 - Connecticut - Area code 959 in Connecticut is scheduled to be placed into service as an overlay of area code 860. Mandatory ten-digit dialing is already required in all Connecticut area codes so no changes in local dialing plans are necessary.

10/06/2014 - Indiana - (Updated) Area code 930 in Indiana is scheduled to be placed into service as an overlay of area code 812 on March 7, 2015. Read more details about area code 930.

11/30/2014 - Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island - Area code 782 in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia is scheduled to be placed into service as an overlay of area code 902. Effective August 23, 2014 many callers will receive a message notifying them to dial the area code followed by the local 7 digit number. Mandatory ten-digit dialing begins November 16, 2014.
